The University of Oxford

The university of Oxford (informally Oxford institution or easily Oxford) is a collegiate study institution located in Oxford, England. Whilst having no recognized date of groundwork, there may be proof of teaching as far back as 1096, making it the oldest institution in the English-talking world and the world's second-oldest surviving school. It grew quickly from 1167 when Henry II banned English students from attending the college of Paris. After disputes between pupils and Oxford townsfolk in 1209, some lecturers fled northeast to Cambridge where they established what grew to be the institution of Cambridge. The 2 "old universities" are often collectively known as "Oxbridge".

The college is made from a sort of institutions, together with 38 constituent faculties and a full range of academic departments which can be organised into four divisions. The entire schools are self-governing associations as part of the tuition, each and every controlling its own membership and with its own internal constitution and routine. Being a city school, it does no longer have a predominant campus; as a substitute, all the buildings and services are scattered during the town centre. Most undergraduate teaching at Oxford is organised around weekly tutorials on the self-governing schools and halls, supported by lessons, lectures and laboratory work furnished through university schools and departments.

Oxford is the dwelling of several great scholarships, including the Clarendon Scholarship which used to be launched in 2001 and the Rhodes Scholarship which has brought graduate pupils to study on the school for greater than a century. The school operates the largest institution press in the world and the most important tutorial library system in the United Kingdom. Oxford has informed many super alumni, together with 27 Nobel laureates, 26 British top ministers (most not too long ago David Cameron, the incumbent) and plenty of overseas heads of state.
